The Hangzhou Institute of Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is a key initiative of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of life and health. It is the first directly affiliated research institute named after medicine and serves as a vital platform for scientific innovation and advance technological development in the medical sector in Zhejiang Province.
Since its establishment in 2019, the Institute has been closely collaborating with prestigious universities and research institutions, including the University of Science and Technology of China, Tianjin University, Hunan University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou Dianzi University, University of Macau, and the Molecular Medicine Institute of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hangzhou Advanced Research Institute, to conduct joint training programs. In 2024, the Institute received an approval to confess degrees in the primary discipline of Pharmacy, and was also authorized to offer a Master’s degree in Biomedicine, beginning the enrollment of graduate students under the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2019 to 2024, the Institute jointly trained 714 master’s and doctoral students. In 2024 alone, 198 new students were enrolled in the joint training program, including 41 doctoral and 157 master’s students. Additionally, 35 students were independently enrolled under the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, including 15 doctoral and 20 master’s students. To date, the Institute has successfully trained two cohorts of master’s and doctoral students, totaling 122 individuals.
