On February 23, 2023, the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine Chinese Academy of Sciences was officially approved by State Commission Office of Public Sectors Reform to be a direct subordinate to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, marking a new milestone in its development. To meet the Institute’s growing need for student training, the leadership proposed applying to the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for first-level discipline doctoral and master’s degree programs in Pharmacy and specialized degrees in Biology and Medicine. On November 27, 2023, the Institute’s leadership organized an expert review meeting for the new degree programs. On December 23, 2023, under the guidance of Kong Minghui, Secretary of the Institute’s Discipline Inspection Committee, professors Tan Jiangjiang and Liu Yuan successfully defended their applications at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and received approval for the two degree programs. The approval of these programs is of significant historical importance for accelerating the Institute’s development and meeting the demands for student training and advanced talent cultivation.
