On May 8, 2024, the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine Chinese Academy of Sciences, celebrated its fifth anniversary with an academic event in Hangzhou. “Looking ahead, we will continue to fulfill our mission as a strategic force in the national medical field, striving to establish an internationally leading source of original innovations in life and health and provide scientific foundation and key core technology support for ‘A Healthy China’ program and the nation’s long-term development,” said in an emotional tone by Tan Weihong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine Chinese Academy of Sciences, and President of Zhejiang Cancer Hospital.

Over the past five years, the Institute has made substantial progress in infrastructure development, talent growth, and research focus. With a characteristic emphasis on basic science-driven, clinically oriented, major platform-supported, and interdisciplinary research, the Institute has conducted organized and problem-solving research. It has led 13 national key R&D projects and undertaken a total of 175 national, provincial, and horizontal projects, achieving impressive results.
