Penghui Zhang is a researcher at the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry at Nanjing University in 2015. From 2015 to 2020, he served as a lecturer and associate professor at Xi’an Jiaotong University, and visited the University of Florida in 2018. He joined the institute in 2020.
His research focuses on innovative molecular medicines and nanomedicines, mRNA design and delivery, and intelligent molecular networks for regulating cell fate. His work includes drug-release strategies triggered by aberrantly expressed microRNAs in tumor cells, environmentally responsive molecular building blocks, and intelligent probes for sensing and regulating the tumor microenvironment.
His research has appeared in Nature Chemistry, Advanced Materials, the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, and ACS Nano. He has led projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and received support from national and Zhejiang talent programs.
