Discovery of biomarkers for gastric cancer; dissection of molecular mechanisms underlying cancer metastasis; development of targeted and immune based anti-cancer therapies.

Academic Achievements

Run Xiao earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology at Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2013. Then, he joined the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center for postdoctoral study. He took on the position of PI at Institute of Basic Medicine and Cancer,

Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021. He specializes in cancer research from the molecular mechanisms of cancer to anti-cancer therapies. Representative academic achievements include the following (1) analysis of structural basis of c-Src activation by integrin β3 (2) dissection of mechanisms in which environmental and genetic activation of hypothalamic BDNF modulates immune homeostasis to exert an anticancer phenotype (3) development of an adipocyte-specific AAV vector delivering IL-15/IL-15Ra complex as a novel cancer immune gene therapy. These studies have been published in Blood, Cancer Immunology Research, Molecular Therapy, Brain, Behavior, and Immunity, etc.
