Hai Hu is a researcher at the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a senior chief physician at its affiliated cancer hospital, Zhejiang Cancer Hospital. He serves as Vice President of the hospital and Director of its Breast Center. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and has led projects under the National Key Research and Development Program of China.
His translational research investigates metabolism in tumors and the tumor microenvironment, particularly its relationship with treatment resistance. Building on these studies, he develops anticancer approaches, drug candidates, and diagnostic reagents to advance precision oncology.
His research has appeared in journals including Cell and Cancer Cell. He led the development of a diagnostic kit measuring 13 lung cancer-associated antibodies that received Class III medical device registration in China, for use as an aid in distinguishing benign from malignant pulmonary nodules detected by CT.
