Qifeng Yu

Qifeng Yu is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chief Scientist of the Laboratory for Cell Therapy Technology Research and Engineering at the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine, CAS. He is also a professor in the College of Aerospace Science and Engineering at the National University of Defense Technology and Deputy Director of the university’s Science and Technology Committee.

His research focuses on image-based measurement, vision-based navigation, and optical experimental mechanics. His work spans deformation measurement of large structures, large-scale motion measurement, and interferometric fringe analysis. He has developed theories and methods for camera-based measurement, optical measurement of three-dimensional position and orientation, and vision-based navigation for flight vehicles.

He graduated from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1981, received a master’s degree in solid mechanics from the National University of Defense Technology in 1984, and earned his doctorate in precision optical measurement from the University of Bremen, Germany, in 1995. He was elected to CAS in 2009.
