Xiaobing Fu is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Laboratory for Cell Therapy Technology Research and Engineering at the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

His research focuses on trauma, tissue repair, and regenerative medicine. He has edited monographs on regenerative medicine and published research in journals including The Lancet. He has received three second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award as the leading contributor.

His honors include the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Award for Scientific and Technological Progress and lifetime achievement awards in trauma, burn surgery, and wound repair research.
