Biography

Xiaohong Fang received her B. S. degree in chemistry from Wuhan University in 1990 and obtained her M. S. and Ph. D. degrees from Peking University in 1993 and 1996, respectively. She went to University of Waterloo, Canada, in 1997 and did a one-year postdoctoral work there. During 1998-2001, she worked as a research associate at Chemistry Department in University of Florida, USA. She was appointed as a professor in the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in December of 2001, and worked there since then. InAugust 2020, she was appointed as the Executive Dean of Molecular Medicine Department at the Hangzhou Institute of Advanced Studies, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and became a professor at the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences (HIMCAS). In July 2023, she was appointed as the Deputy Director of HIMCAS.She has served as an Associate Editor for Analytical Chemistry since 2016 and editorial board members for many International academic journals,e.g. National Science Review and International Journal of Nanomedicine. She is currently an associate member of IUPAC Chemistry and Human Health Division.

Research Interests

Fang group’s major research interests include the development of highly sensitive biomedical methods at the single molecule level, investigation of single proteinmolecules related to cell signal transductionin living cells, identification of tumor biomarkers for molecular diagnosis and treatment. She has published over 240 papers in prestigious international academic journals such as JACS, PNAS,Nature Commun.,Nature Biotech. , etc.
